The Sports Medicine staff at J.R. Tucker is comprised of one Licensed Athletic Trainer and several team Orthopaedic Physicians. The Sports Medicine staff functions to ensure the safety of your son or daughter. Collaborative and cooperative efforts between the sports medicine staff, coaches and parents ensure the highest quality care for your student athlete.
NATA defines an athletic trainer as a health care professional who collaborates with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic training services at J.R. Tucker High School are provided through Bon Secours Sports Medicine.
The team orthopaedic Physician functions as the expert in diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries. A Physician attends all home Varsity football games and is the primary referring physician for major injuries. Orthopaedic services are provided through Tuckahoe Orthopaedics by Dr. William Beach. Head Athletic Trainer
Keenan Quinlevan, MS, ATC, VATL
Keenan graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. He then attended Delta State University where he obtained his Masters of Science in Sport Management/Administration. Keenan is a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Virginia. Keenan is employed by Bon Secours Health System. He is very excited to be at J.R. Tucker High School as the Head Athletic Trainer and looks forward to many years here.
